Well, we all know by now that some bloke called Lee Martin won both 2wd and 4wd European Championships recently at Traiskirchen in Austria. Winning both 2 and 4wd European Championships has only been done by maybe 3 people in total, so i suppose Lee Martin did OK.
However, the main question has to be this; How Did Kev Lee do?
Well, I'll tell you.
The weather was a major factor in the qualifying and the rain really messed up the competition. Kev, as all other drivers did, only had 2 rounds of qualifying and unfortunately and he wasn't able to get a clean run in. Kev did however, manage a D Final place which given the conditions is still a good result, but one that Kev is a little disappointed with, but one that I couldn't replicate, so well done Kev!!

Hi guys, just thought i'd let you know that i have revised the postage rates on the shop to include non recorded delivery on items up to £50 in the uk and worldwide. This means that purchasing the odd spare works out much better value.

you need to set the mesh so that there is a small amount of "backlash" between the spur and pinion. You can run a piece of paper between the spur and pinion if you wish - the same principle applies - you are looking for no more than about .5mm worth of play when the spur is rocked back and forth.
If you are running the black spur gears it's a good idea to check the mesh at four points around the spur gear and set the mesh to achieve the best compromise mesh. You will see what I mean when you try it - the black spur gears were not known for being round.
You will know if it is too tight as the car will sound "tight" when you push it.

is there an easy way to do this on the pred? on 1/5th we use paper and run it through the gears and if it folds it nicely wihout ripping its ok.
jsut took the car out for a quick run (couple of mins) on a 19 tooth pinion and there was some black shavings around the spur (like the spur has worn)
mesh seems ok and nothing is binding in the transmission and the motor is square in the mount

our track is medium size for 1/5th scale cars, in other words is super wide and very long for 1/10th lol. (the brca requirments for 1/5th is a minumium of 4 meters wide)
the diggers are in next week as we are going to re-level the clay again as the 1/5th cars we run have grooved it up pretty badly :lol: just hopeing for rain most of this week so the track stays like play dough and does not turn into a dust pit (it drys out really fast which is a shame)
we are not building any jumps out of the clay either as they want to start running 1/10th/ 8th and 5th scale rally cars on it to along with the buggys, jumps will be made out of wood and moveable.

a 3.5 would be way too much.
I usually run a 6.5 in my X11, with 50c/5000mah cells and that is plenty quick enough for me. I dropped a 5.5 in this weekend as the track we ran had a very long straight....the car was quicker than a ballistic missile, but ultimately slower as it was just too fast.
I would recommend a 6.5 or maybe even a 7.5 if your track is small.
Where are you intending racing it?

awesome thanks guys. will get a selection around the 20 mark and fine tune it off that.
car handles great though! cant wait to run it down at the track. also going to buy a brushless motor as taking the can apart to check the comm and brushes every race seems a pain!
would a 3.5 turn be to much or would i be better off around the 5/6 turn end on a brushless?

The slipper does sound a bit loose to me - perhaps try tightening it by 1/16th or thereabouts.
The car also looks as though it has a little too much steering on the front, it may be that a sway bar will reduce that?
if you reduce the toe-out to 1deg toe- in and also -1 deg camber, you should find that it will help with the steering thus giving better corner entry counteracting any oversteer you have. hope this helps..Alan

What setup sheet says use 31 on a 72? It might be a typo and mean 21 on a 72.. That would be more like it. That is way too high and you'll damage the motor with that.
A 10 turn is similar to a 6.5 brushless motor. I run 21 or 22 with a 72 spur on that and I'd suggest you start around there. Probably 1 or 2 lower to start with.
